I don't think the Chromecast guest mode is not the solution and there is no equivalent for the Apple TV. I think the idea is to basically to enable the Multicast traffic on the eero guest network.

I don't use this feature on my home eero network, but I use this on my company's network where we have an isolated guest network, but an Apple TV that is connected to the corporate network.
There is no additional configuration on the Apple TV or iOS device necessary--and it works beautifully. Wouldn't that create other issues? It seems that anyone within range could connect, including all my neighbors. While the features can come close, it still seems that the setup won't be quite right without allowing multicast, don't you think?

I can see why the peer-to-peer airplay would work well in a conference room. But in a guest bedroom with the TV turning on in the middle of the night because the neighbor tries to connect seems inconvinient.

I haven't had the Eero for that long so I can't really draw a pattern. Any ideas what could be causing it? A bandwidth hog on the wireless network? I asked this question in the same post as the Google MDNS question because since it is a flood, could that be causing some internal issues with router?

Connections totally freeze for devices and nothing loads on the internet or intranet. What changed for me over the course of time? Major changes started in October through Xmas. I find it a complete drama trying to load websites and even access my Hue Labs for all my sensors now. I have the exact problems described by other users with other hardware. The only option, assuming the software is in place, would be to start replacing all my Eeros with another brand that has a patch to determine if it's all gravy on another platform.
That's expensive just to find out it's on Eero. They definitely caused my Orbi network to crash continually.

So, it doesn't look like it's specific to the OS. Furthermore, I've tried running another script to send multicast data to the same multicast address and port. I can send from one PC and all the others are able to receive correctly using my receive script. But, only my one Windows PC is able to receive the data from the hardware device in question. I'm wondering if it is something to do with the ethernet adapters or their configuration.
Could it be something to do with the fact that the harware device has IP address 0. Running Wireshark on the Linux PCs sees the data from the hardware device. Also, you don't need to set multicast TTL on the receiver, that's for senders, and also optional. I fought this same issue for two days. Wireshark saw the packets but my code did not. None of the supposedly "definitive" answers from various sources worked for me.
Running "ip maddr" showed that code similar to yours was not adding the multicast address to any interface. I forced it to be added with smcroute see link above.

As you are aware, each host on an Ethernet network has a unique MAC address, so here's the million dollar question: How do you talk to a group of hosts our multicast groupwhere each host has a different MAC address, and at the same time ensure that the other hosts, which are not part of the multicast group, don't process the information?
You will soon know exactly how all this works. In order to explain Multicasting the best I can and to make it easier for you understand, I decided to break it down into 3 sections:. When a computer joins a multicast group, it needs to be able to distinguish between normal unicasts which are packets directed to one computer or one MAC address and multicasts.
With hardware multicasting, the network card is configured, via its drivers, to watch out for particular MAC addresses in this case, multicast MAC addresses apart from its own. When the network card picks up a packet which has a destination MAC that matches any of the multicast MAC addresses, it will pass it to the upper layers for further processing.
Ethernet uses the low-order bit of the high-order octet to distinguish conventional unicast addresses from multicast addresses. To understand this, we need to analyse the destination MAC address of a unicast and multicast packet, so you can see what we are talking about:. The following picture is an example of my workstation When my gateway receives the packet, it knows it's a unicast packet as explained in the above picture.
Let's now have a look at the MAC address of a multicast packet. Keep in mind, a multicast packet is not directed to one host but a number of hosts, so the destination MAC address will not match the unique MAC address of any computer, but the computers which are part of the multicast group will recognise the destination MAC address and accept it for processing.

So now you should be able to understand how computers can differentiate between a normal or unicast packet and a multicast packet. Again, the destination MAC address E is not the MAC address of a particular host-computer but the MAC address that can be recognised by computers that are part of the multicast group.
I should also note that you will never find a source address that is a multicast MAC address, the source address will always be a real one, to identify which computer the packet came from. This Rule is covered in the last section of this page, but you don't need to know it now in order to understand Hardware multicasting.
The IP Multicast is the second part of multicasting which, combined with the hardware multicasting, gives us a multicasting model that works for our Ethernet network. If hardware multicasting fails to work, then the packet will never arrive at the network layer upon which IP multicasting is based, so the whole model fails. Once Layer 2 Datalink picks the multicast packet from the network because it recognises it, as the destination MAC address is a multicast it will strip the MAC addresses off and send the rest to the above layer, which is the Network Layer.
At that point, the Network Layer needs to be able to understand it's dealing with a multicast, so the IP address is set in a way that allows the computer to see it as a multicast datagram. A host may send multicast datagrams to a multicast group without being a member. Multicasts are used a lot between routers so they can discover each other on an IP network.
